Well, what about that? At last, Saddam Hussein has been found guilty of the minor crime arraigned against him and sentenced to hang.
How much 'capital' will George W Shrub make out of this, considering it is the mid-term election coming up on Tuesday?

It seems the big dubya didn't make enough capital out of the Saddam trial result as his showing in the mid-terms was less than encouraging. He now faces two years of impotence before, I suspect, being impeached by the democrats.

Re- Question Time BBC 9/11/2006.
Malcolm Rifkind seemed to think that it was too much of a coincidence to announce the death sentence passed down on Saddam Hussein two days before the mid-term election in the U.S.
Although there is no proof, he thinks a deal was struck by U.S. to withhold the sentence announcement, despite the possibility of it being decided some time ago. This could have been a ploy to help boost a failing campaign for the Republicans.
